Eastern International College has been granted accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).
What is the Middle States Commission on Higher Education?
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to conduct accreditation activities for institutions of higher education in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, including distance education and correspondence education programs offered at those institutions.
MSCHE is a voluntary, non-governmental, membership association that defines, maintains, and promotes educational excellence across institutions with diverse missions, student populations, and resources(msche.org). It examines each institution as a whole, rather than specific programs within institutions. For Eastern International College, this has been a seven year undertaking. It was through hard work, assessment, and revision, that EIC was granted Middle States Accreditation.
What This Means for Prospective and Current Students
- The Middle States Commission on Higher Education considers student learning to be a very important matter in the accreditation process.
- Accreditation by MSCHE assures students and the public of the quality of higher education offered.
- Students at institutionally accredited organizations are eligible for federal financial aid, and employers are much more likely to recognize accredited degree programs.
- Institutional accreditation is useful for credit transfer. While it is not necessarily a guarantee that credits will transfer between institutions, it does make it far more likely. Students can check with the program dean to see if transfer credits will be accepted.
