A Closer Look at the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Program
Students in the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Program (ADN) receive hands-on clinical training and thorough classroom instruction, as well as extensive professional and ethical education. By completing the nursing academic program’s coursework and clinical practicum, graduates can apply for state licensure, as well as to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). This 24-month degree program is approved by the New Jersey Board of Nursing, allowing you to compete for nursing jobs throughout the state.
Program coursework includes 70 total credits, with 24 general education credits and 46 credits in program major courses. After completing the program, students possess the communication, cultural sensitivity, technological, legal, professional, and leadership skills required to successfully deliver top-quality patient care.

This coursework also includes a clinical practicum that provides hands-on experience in real-world healthcare environments. You’ll work directly with a nurse educator in a setting that challenges you to use your skills, make important care decisions, and collaborate with other healthcare providers. The practicum emphasizes on-the-job leadership, successful use of technology, and management of multiple patients to ensure program graduates are well-prepared for their future careers.
