This course introduces key aspects of financial management for today’s healthcare organizations, addressing diverse factors that impact the provision of medical services in a dynamic and competitive environment. Covering basic economics and accounting principles, the course will equip students with the tools necessary to effectively communicate with the finance professionals in healthcare organizations and to understand financial decisions made in the organization. A primary focus is on the conceptual framework of basic accounting techniques such as the preparation of financial reports, annual and capital budgeting, cost accounting and analysis of financial statements.
